چکیده

Web search is a common activity in mobile context. However, the nature of performing tasks environment means there risk interruption. While effects interruptions on have been studied recent years, such occurring real-world settings not. Using diary study approach, we collected data from 20 participants everyday they faced conducting web searches over 10-day period. We used inductive open coding to categorise assigning each interruption category/sub-category combination. then deductive approach classify as being either internally or externally-induced; and non mobile-specific. found broad range interruptions, which organised into an extensive taxonomy. Further, substantial proportion are externally-induced more than half unique contexts. The empirical evidence our findings provide insight complex search, information upon base future studies (e.g., surveys, controlled laboratory studies), motivation for interface designs that can help mitigate interruptions.

Some whats, whys and worries of geoengineering

In this paper I discuss the nature of geoengineering, some of its attractions, and some reasons for concern. I claim that there is confusion in the use of the term ‘geoengineering’ that is related to larger concerns about the language in which responses to climate change are discussed. I conclude that despite some reasonable grounds for suspicion, research in areas that involve carbon dioxide r...

Whats and whys with neonatal CT.

What and why? As health care professionals, we must address both of these questions in scientific inquiry as well as in clinical practice. Most times, facts (the “what”) are relatively easy to come by. The reasons (the “why”) behind these events are usually more difficult to discover and understand. Let us look at the example of head computed tomography (CT) in a group of neonates. There are 2 ...

Making the most of your search model

In cases with high sequence homology, Molecular Replacement (MR) is usually a trivial exercise. But, as the structural homology gets lower and lower, solving the structure by means of MR becomes increasingly difficult. Conventional wisdom holds that an RMSD of about 1.5Å between the search model and the actual structure constitutes the limit at which MR can still be used. Fortunately, the MR pr...
